Geostatistical Models Print E-mail

We are often dealing with relatively sparse data and lack of 3D seismic data. Geostatistics are the key in finding how the data is connected. This is usually achieved through building variograms. A Variogram is a method for describing spatial variation of a reservoir property.

It is based on the principle that closely spaced samples are likely to have a greater correlation than those located far distances apart. Geostatistical model tend to predict the 3D behaviour of seismic/well related properties better than conventional deterministic surfaces.
