In Salah Gas is the largest natural gas development project in Algeria. It entails the development of seven gas fields in southern central Algeria. The project, which has been on stream since July 2004, includes the injection of around 1 million tonnes of CO2 into the reservoir each year making it the world’s first large-scale carbon dioxide storage project in a gas reservoir. It is estimated that 17 million tonnes will be geologically stored over the life of the project.
